The Nest Cottage

Once a nesting place for the hens to lay their eggs and keep them warm, now the cottage is the ultimate love nest for romantic couples, or a comfortable suite for families. The original hand hewn posts and beams and wide plank floors convey the atmosphere of the old farm building, while the luxurious clawfoot double slipper spa tub and massive king sized canopy bed provide the romance! The bed is a Vermont Tubbs canopy bed made in Brandon, Vermont. Next to the bed, on a raised platform, is the champagne clawfoot spa tub. We even saved some of the original wooden nests (all cleaned and painted) and hung them on the wall behind the tub to be used as cubbies. The Rumford style fireplace can be seen from the tub, the bed, and the sitting area—how romantic is that?! Satellite TV and DVD player are concealed behind the painting above the fireplace. There is also a separate bath with shower and a farmhouse kitchen with antique sink, cupboard, and farm table. Upstairs in the loft are twin tiger maple beds, and there is a private deck in back which overlooks the hayfield and mountains. The Nest can be rented by the week as a housekeeping cottage or by the day as a B and B guest room including breakfast. (See Rates)
