Each bedchamber is a private retreat, lovingly decorated with family heirlooms and collected antiques to reflect the genteel lifestyle of the mid-1800's. The charm of the past is carefully coupled with the comforts of the present.

All of the 5 bedchambers in the main house are named for former owners and residents throughout its history as a working farm from the 1830's to the 1970's. Our private cottages, The Milkhouse and The Nest, derive their names from their original functions of cooling and storing fresh milk, and providing a place for the hens to nest and stay warm.

The Israel Munson Room ($189-$219, see rate schedule below) — Step up into the king-sized bed with fringed canopy and curl up with a book or your loved one. The antique wardrobe, marble-top dresser, fainting couch, wide plank floors, and wainscoted bath lend an air of Victorian charm to this spacious room, named for the man who had the elegant farmhouse built for his bride in 1845. It is a second floor room with a grand view of the Green Mountains on one side and the spacious meadows on the other. It features a recently refurbished full private bath with single person whirlpool tub and shower. The corner fireplace adds to the ambiance, and assures that you will stay warm and cozy however cold it may get outside.

The Matilda Clark Munson Room ($179-$209, see rate schedule below) — This lovely room, named for the original mistress of the house, has a king sized sleigh bed and an oval Jacuzzi style whirlpool tub in the room. A second floor room with four windows, it has a grand view of the mountains in the White Rocks Recreation Area, and also looks across the meadow to the neighboring farm. The Vermont Castings fireplace stove is reminiscent of the way the house was heated in 1845. The bath with shower features locally quarried marble tile and wainscoting.

The Gilbert Douglas Room ($139-$169, see rate schedule below) — The queen size canopy bed, antique furnishings, wide plank floor, braided rug, and original 1845 wallpaper make this room a page from the past. It is named for the original owner of the old farmhouse that was rebuilt in 1845 to become the elegant structure it is today. The house was originally heated with a wood burning stove in each room. The corner fireplace stove is reminiscent of the original. This second floor room has the best view of the magnificent Gothic barn, which is also listed on the National Historic Register. The room has a full private bath, featuring a unique 4-foot long clawfoot tub with shower.

The Arthur Davison Room ($149-$179, see rate schedule below) — Named for Arthur Davison, who owned and operated the farm for 40 years in the 20th century, this cozy second floor room features a romantic queen sized canopy bed, antique furnishings, wide plank floors, large braided rug, and deep blue and rose floral wallpaper. This room is a favorite with the ladies, who love the soft colors and little details like the antique child's nightgown and child's Victorian high buttoned shoe. It has a private shower bath with locally quarried marble tile floors. The corner fireplace adds to the ambiance, and assures that you will stay warm and cozy however cold it may get outside.

The Kirk Munson Room ($149-$179, see rate schedule below) — This first floor room (named for Kirk Munson who was born here and lived all of his 86 years in the house) has been recently refurbished and features a queen canopy bed with hand knotted canopy, new wallpaper in a blue and cream toile print, and full private bath with tub and shower. It is the only guestroom on the first floor and is convenient to the dining room, parlor, library, and side porch. The corner fireplace adds to the ambiance, and assures that you will stay warm and cozy however cold it may get outside.

Set back away from the house, the two secluded cottages, The Milkhouse and The Nest, are our most private accommodations and have become a favorite with honeymooners and other romantic couples, so we affectionately refer to them as the "milk & honey" cottage and the "love nest." Either of them can be rented by the week as a housekeeping cottage or by the day as a B and B guest room including breakfast. Both cottages were originally post and beam outbuildings built or renovated in 1888 to match the great multi-unit barn which was enlarged that same year. The more recent renovation of these farm buildings into cozy cottages has preserved the slate roofs, hand hewn beams, original trim, and wide plank floors while adding amenities such as whirlpool tubs, fireplaces, kitchens, and king beds. Both are perfect for families as well as for romantic getaways.

The Milkhouse Cottage ($249-$279 B&B, $1250-$1650 weekly, see rate schedule below) — Your own 700 square foot private retreat, including kitchen, dining area, living room with queen sleeper sofa, fireplace, satellite TV, DVD player, phone, private deck, large bath with whirlpool tub, and king bed in the loft bedroom.

The Nest Cottage ($269-$299 B&B, $1350-$1750 weekly, see rate schedule below) — A cozy 800 square foot private cottage with farmhouse kitchen, Rumford style fireplace, sitting area, king canopy bed, satellite TV, DVD player, phone, clawfoot slipper spa tub, separate bath with shower, loft with twin beds, and private deck.

Rates are per room double occupancy and include a full breakfast.

Base Rates are year round except for the following Holiday/Foliage rate periods.

Fall Foliage for 2008 includes dates from 9/26/2008 through 10/26/2008.
Christmas through New year's 2008 includes dates from 12/19/2008 through 1/4/2009.
Valentine's/President's weekend includes all dates 2/13/2009 through 2/16/2009.
The Fall Foliage and Holiday periods are two night minimums in all rooms with the following exceptions:
Columbus Day Holiday Weekend and Valentine's/President's Weekend are 3 night minimum weekends.

POLICIES AND RESERVATIONS

White Rocks Inn offers all guests a Smoke-Free Environment; smoking is permitted on lawns away from the buildings. We thank you for respecting our non-smoking policy.

There is a 2-night minimum on weekends all year round in the Israel Munson Room, Matilda Munson Room, and both cottages. Two and three night minimums apply in all rooms in certain holiday periods. A full list of dates is on our rooms and rates page. White Rocks Inn offers all guests a Smoke-Free Environment; smoking is permitted on lawns away from the buildings. We thank you for respecting our non-smoking policy. Check in is from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. If other times are needed, please call ahead to be sure we are available. Check out is 11:00am.

Children over 12 are welcome in the main house, and children of all ages and well behaved pets and adults are welcome in the cottages. Please ask about our pet policy before bringing your pet. There is a $35.00 per reservation charge for your pet(s). We supply a welcome package for your pet and additional housekeeping time is required after your stay. Sorry, Maggie, Cleo, and Suzy say it is not appropriate for pets in the main house.

Please note that the weekly rate for a cottage does not include breakfast or daily housekeeping service.

CANCELLATIONS:
Your reservation is confirmed with the credit card that you provide and is very important to us.

In the unlikely event that you must cancel or reschedule we will make every effort to re-book your room. All cancellations incur a $25.00 service charge at the time of cancellation. If you find that you must cancel within 14 days (or 30 days for fall foliage and certain holiday periods) of your scheduled arrival, any portion of your reservation that we are unable to re-book will be charged to your card and we will issue you a house credit for that amount good for 6 months from the date of issue. House credits issued due to cancellations are for last minute availability only and are not good during fall foliage and other holiday and peak periods. No house credit will be issued for cancellations within 48 hours of check in, no shows, late arrivals, or early departures.

If you would like the convenience of booking on-line, please be assured that our server is very secure and no information such as credit card numbers are ever sent through e-mail or handled indiscreetly. You will receive an e-mail or phone call to confirm your reservation. We make every effort to get your confirmation letter to you in a timely matter. Cyberspace is not perfect so if you do not get your confirmation within 24 hours, please let us know. You are always confirmed at the time of the reservation even though a confirmation letter may get lost in cyberspace. All cancellations must be made by phone to insure that your cancellation is recorded. Otherwise, you may be subject to charges for not cancelling. We look forward to hearing from you!
